| This activity is a good starting point for QCA 2B Plants and Animals in the Local Environment and QCA 2C Variation. It is a half day activity and combines well with pond dipping.
Beginning with a story about an old boot that has been discarded in a field and becomes a home for minibeasts, this activity leads into a minibeast collection in the Centre grounds. The children sensitively search under logs and stones, collecting minibeasts, closely observing and sorting them into groups before being released back to their home.
The children work in groups for this activity and we find it is beneficial to have an adult with each group. Please bear this in mind when organising your helpers.
