| A visit to the Centre offers children the opportunity to experience an environment beyond their own locality. Austerfield is a linear village mentioned in the Doomsday Book and has examples of cottages, bungalows, terraced, detached and semi detached houses. There is also a beauty salon, a factory and a sand quarry, plus a 1,000 year old church.
The day's activity could centre on types of buildings, building materials, old or new, land use, simple history, signs and notices, likes and dislikes or comparison with ‘home’. The choice is yours.
It is also well worth visiting inside the Church. Whether you want the children to just experience being inside a very old church looking at the various furniture, to look at materials used, or to think about the history of the building, it is a memorable experience. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |
