A visit to the Centre allows children to use their geographical skills and widen their knowledge of places by introducing them to a rural village alongside a factory, a nature reserve and a working sand quarry. Austerfield is a linear village and whilst it no longer has a working farm, evidence of the past is visible in the old farm buildings and road signs. In addition to the old village there are three small housing estates which show the expansion of the village.

We have aerial photographs to study land use before we go into the village and a choice of pictorial trails or a map with a key for use in the village and on the old quarry nature reserve.

Your day can include the village or the nature reserve or both, just let us know your requirements.
